Lao NR 20 Rural bridges
In 2022, Janson Bridging signed a contract with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Lao for the renewal of 12 critical bridges along National Road 20. These bridges had become outdated, unsafe, and increasingly dangerous to cross. Especially during the rainy seasons.
To ensure traffic could continue to flow during construction, bypasses were created alongside each bridge. This approach allowed local communities and businesses to remain connected while the renewal works were carried out. In this way, the project not only replaced deteriorated infrastructure but also minimized disruption to everyday life along this important transport corridor.
For Janson Bridging, the works on NR20 were about more than just rebuilding bridges. By improving road safety and accessibility, the project contributes directly to regional prosperity. Safer and stronger bridges mean better access to markets, schools, and medical care. They also play an essential role in supporting economic growth and social development in the Lao countryside.
The bridges themselves are engineered to modern standards, ensuring durability and resilience against the heavy traffic loads and environmental conditions of the region. The project stands as an example of how smart engineering, combined with a focus on community needs, can deliver lasting impact.
